You can spend the day viewing game as they cross the plains from the veranda of your room or from the deck at the main area. Amboseli belongs in the elite of Kenya’s national parks, and it’s easy to see why. Its signature attraction is the sight of hundreds of big-tusked elephants set against the backdrop of Africa’s best views of Mt Kilimanjaro (5895m). Africa’s highest peak broods over the southern boundary of the park, and while cloud cover can render the mountain’s massive bulk invisible for much of the day, you’ll be rewarded with stunning vistas when the weather clears, usually at dawn and/or dusk. Apart from guaranteed elephant sightings, you’ll also see wildebeest and zebras, and you’ve a reasonable chance of spotting lions, cheetahs and hyenas. The park is also home to over 370 bird species, and it has an excellent array of lodges and an agreeably mild, dry climate.

We did a 6 nights Kenya tour with East Africa adventure and had one of the best experiences ever. An African safari was always our dream and I am very... read more thankful to Fred, Kizito and team to have helped us plan this and execute it in the best possible way.
We covered Amboseli, Nakuru and Masai Mara national parks. All the 3 destinations were special in their own way. Masai Mara is definitely our favorite of all. We saw the big 5 and we got a very close view of lions, lion cubs, cheetahs, leopard and more. Thanks to our guide Kizito who put extra efforts to make sure we had the best view and got the best shots. We did the hot air balloon at Masai Mara which was amazing but we felt its overpriced. The vehicle we used for safari was a 4WD van. I only hope this vehicle was more comfortable and stronger. We had a fantastic tented camp stay booked in all 3 destinations.
On the last day while departing ,we also did the giraffe center at Nairobi. This was not in the itinerary but kizito and team accommodated and made sure we could visit. I highly recommend East Africa adventures, you can trust them for a wonderful trip with the best memories.

Hakuna matata! No problem! Of course, if you travel with East Africa Adventure Tours... Thanks to Fred and his crew we had an unforgettable African tour for 16 days. Since... read more the very beginning, starting with our
emails and calls, he was prompt with his answers, patiently responding to all our inquires and accomodating our needs. Our itinerary, both in Kenya and Tanzania, met and at times exceeded our expectations. The trip from Nairobi to Masay Mara, Lake Nakuru, Amboseli, etc with our driver/guide Moses was very organized, safe, interesting and fun. He went above and beyond to make sure we had the best spots, timing and angle for our safari experience and photography. Incredible views, abundance of "Big Five" animals,African sunsets, hotels, tents - all thanks to East Africa Adventure Tour staff! Moses' expertise and his driving skills were phenomenal.
He had been our tour guide in Kenya for over a week and then turned us over to his partner, Ali, on the Kenya-Tanzania border, where we had show a proof of yellow fever immunization and purchase a visa. Hint: no toilet tissue on the border!! Carry your own in Kenya!! Ali, equipped with guide books and very comfortable and clean safari Land Cruiser showed us the beauty of Serengeti, Lake Manyara, and Ngorongoro crater(a must!!). All hotels and tents chosen for us by Fred and his crew were great. Each one had very friendly and helpful staff members welcoming us after arrival with a glass of juice, wet hand towels and a warm smile. Meals were freshly prepared on premises and served buffet style. Some days required longer day trips were lunch boxes were provided by the hotels and consisted of fresh fruit, juice, chicken and a sandwich. We will never forget eating our box lunches under the baobab tree overlooking a family of hippos taking a bath in the nearby river. Thank you, Moses for choosing these enchanting locations! Our trip ended in Nairobi where we spent our last day/night in a very modern, luxurious Eka hotel. On that day, Fred arranged a visit to the Sheldrick Fund elephant orphanage (a must!!) and Giraffe Center(!!). On our own we took an Uber to visit Karen Blixen's house ("Out of Africa" author) where we met a very knowledgable and super nice tour guide, Sharon. Sk for her! Thanks to her expertise we could live through the times when this house was full of life and busy with welcoming notable guests. a house here Fred came to meet us personally to make sure our trip was up to our expectations.

We had a wonderful 15 day trip to Kenya & Tanzania. I am very happy that we chose to plan this trip with Fred and his team. We... read more had a private safari for our family of 4 (2 adults, a 13 yr old and an 11 yr old). Fred worked with me to customize the itinerary to meet our requirements and was always very responsive in the planning stages.
Our pickup at the airport went smoothly, and as we arrived in the late evening we were very happy to find a guide and driver waiting for us.
Our tour of Nairobi with James was fantastic. He was my son’s favourite guide of the trip. He was flexible with the itinerary and provided us with lots of information. The places we visited (including Elephant orphanage, giraffe centre, crocodile park, and Karen Blixen house museum) and the dinner at Carnivore were wonderful.
Lake Nakuru was beautiful, and we were glad we added on the visit to Lake Naivasha on the way. The rhinos and flamingos at Lake Nakuru were incredible to see.
The Masai Mara was amazing. Especially the hot air balloon trip, and the number of cheetahs we saw in the park.
The trip from Masai Mara to the Tanzania border was a bit tense. Kezito didn’t communicate the urgency or the length of the drive well, and he was very stressed for the trip. He explained this later at the border that he wanted to be sure to get us to our flight on time and the border can be unpredictable. However, we wished he would have communicated this at the beginning rather than the end.
Overall though, Kezito was a very good guide and definitely made the effort to ensure we got to see lots of animals, and he gave us lots of time to take photos in the parks.
The flight in Tanzania was fantastic and I’m glad that we booked that instead of driving that portion. There was a bit of confusion about landing place & time which led us to spending an hour at the Grumeti airstrip waiting for our guide, but it was a beautiful day so that was ok. The biggest downside was that we did not get any lunch that day.
When “B” picked us up at Grumeti he immediately took us to view many lions and that made up for the delay. He was an amazing guide for our time in Tanzania, and made sure that we saw a leopard and her cub which was incredible. He also gave us lots of time in the Serengeti to view cheetahs, crocodile eating a fish, 24+ giraffes going to drink, etc. In Ngorongoro Crater he also made sure we didn’t miss anything. We were sad to leave him, as we had hoped he would take us all the way to the border but he had to hand us over to a different driver on the way to Arusha.
Back in Kenya, it was a pleasant surprise to be picked back up by Kezito. We had a great visit to Amboseli, and even saw a newborn zebra. We loved the elephants and flamingos there, and the lions.
At Taita Hills there were not as many animals to see, but we were happy we had two nights at the salt lick because lots of animals came to the waterhole there and it was a nice relaxing way to view them.
Mombasa was beautiful and I’m glad we booked the nights there to end our trip. The hotel was perfect for us.
It should be noted that our original itinerary did suggest we would be offered an optional tour of Arusha, and a tour of Mombasa. Neither of these were offered. However, we did enjoy our time at the hotels in those places.
All of the hotels/lodges that we stayed in during our time in East Africa were wonderful. The tents at the Flamingo Hill were a great way to spend our first night on safari. The service at the Azure Mara was amazing, and we are glad we took the kids to the Masai village there. The chalets at the Mbalageti Lodge were beautiful and I wished we had another night there. The location of the Seronera in the Serengeti made us wish for a second night there as well. The Ngorongoro Farmhouse was another favourite. The Ol Tukai and Taita Hills, both excellent. I would go back to all of them and would have loved to stay longer if only I could have booked a longer trip.
Overall, we had no real issues on the entire trip and we felt safe and well taken care of the entire time. I spoke to a friend of mine in South Africa who has been on many safaris and she has never seen as much wildlife as we did. I think that says a lot about how great all of our guides were!
I am very happy that we chose to work with a local company, and I will be recommending East Africa Adventures to anyone I meet who is thinking of a trip to Africa.
If we ever get the chance to come back to Africa we will definitely contact East Africa Adventures.
I had been dreaming and planning this trip to Africa for years and it turned out to be everything I had hoped for plus more.

We chose the 14 days trip (exclusively for us) with Fred (East Africa Adventure Tours and Safaris). Overall an excellent never-to-be-forgotten vacation with 3 boat safaris, 7 national parks, including... read more travel by road, and small aircrafts. 5 countries in all.
The exquisitely good, the not so good... but MOSTLY the FABULOUS......
1) Exclusive safaris planned and unplanned out for the two of us with excellent vehicles and executed with relative ease causing least anxiety to us.
Lake Naivasha was unplanned and we are so grateful to Leonard for diverting us for a few hours there . Peaceful yet full of diversity in fauna -boat safari. Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara have to be experienced. Unique.
The long drives were safe and fine EXCEPT the middle of the road stop between Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara for lunch. THAT stop needs to be taken off the agenda for all future clients. The food is awful , there are flies and there is really no need. Better a packed lunch.
I am not a fan of the hot air balloon ride because it scared the animals when close to the ground but it was a rare experience so I am glad I did it. Expensive. Also due to our own fault we broke our camera right here and so the rest of the trip was with our phone cameras and Bryson's camera that he lent us to use. Oh well.... hakuna matata!
The wait for 3-5 hours at the airport in Masai Mara Park to catch the flight to Migori could have been avoided if the front desk could have been queried about whether the plane was going to be on-time. A lunch could have been packed knowing that the plane was late. We did not get to eat till late afternoon when Bryson picked us up at Seronara airport in Tanzania and we bought some biscuits.
Leonard made a quick drive into the forest during the delay time to try and get us to see a leopard and I will give him kudos for trying. But it was awkward.Travel glitches do happen and we were ready to weather them.
I have to also comment on Leonard's excellent instincts as a naturalist. As we were driving out of Nakuru a full grown male baboon entered our 9 seater jeep through the open top. Quite aggressive. Picked up bag, picked out lens, dropped it... Leonard stopped. Faced the baboon and we stayed silent in our seats. Leonard did not speed away as I might have expected but calmly and forcefully faced the baboons ( the first was followed by 3 : all full grown males) one by one and they climbed out. Only after that did we drive on. I was extremely impressed and wanted him to know how much we appreciated that episode. To know that yes we are always dealing with animals in their habitat and it is not our place to scream and yell but to deal with circumstances the best we can and hope for the best outcome. That was a wild encounter perhaps a bit too close for comfort but we were heartened to see no harm come out of it and the strength of being with an excellent naturalist guide.
2) Knowledgeable naturalist guides with experience in both spotting and tracking.
3) Friendly 5 star tented resorts and lodges. Special thanks to Flamingo Hill Tented Camp in Lake Nakuru, Sopa Lodge outside Masai Mara Nat Park , Sound of Silence (a fabulous 5 star tented camp last minute alternative with exclusive dinner prepared for each guest ) at Serengeti Nat Park, Ngorungoru Farm House (most impressed to know that all food products were produced within the campus), and Ol Tukai Lodge at Amboseli. The best by far (by way of service) was Protea Hotel Livingstone, Zambia. I am biased because it was our wedding anniversary and although I had requested a surprise for my husband they went ALL OUT with champagne, fruits, flower decorations et al. Thank you ALL. I left little personal gifts in most places and I am hoping they were appreciated. The massages at Flamingo and FarmHouse are appreciated much and I hope the gifts were liked.
It might be a good idea to inform your guests that there are resorts inside the parks. We would have absolutely chosen that. It cuts down the driving to the park, although we saw a whole lot even in those drives. So no worries about that.
4) The safaris were comprehensive. The best were at Serengeti and Ngorugoru where Bryson made sure of the packed breakfast and lunches and we were in the forest from 6am to 6pm. That is the way to maximize on what we experienced in the forest. (I hope you wife made use of the tiny gifts Bryson)
All other guides could take a page from Bryson. Some guests might like the more relaxed lunch at resort, sleep in afternoons but it is a good idea to gauge right away who your guests are and what they want. Forcing them to return to lodges to have lunches is not always the best choice.
Our water and land safaris at Chobe National Park, Botswana which we planned ourselves with the help of the Protea Hotel concierge at Livingstone , Zambia were spectacular. Not only did we get our very close encounter with leopard #4 but it was guarding a recently dead elephant which was a scene never to be forgotten. We spotted the rare sable antelopes which were spectacular. But they are so shy that we could not capture them in photos. Neither did we capture the many dik dik we spotted for the same reason or the ant-lion in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in Livingstone, Zambia. Victoria Falls was very dry, although we could appreciate the immensity of what must be during season: we were happy to be in it's presence at all.
Each National Park was better than the one before in diversity of flora and fauna. Each was special. I was interested in the flora since I am a botanist by training. So every tree had to be named. (Sorry!) and the diversity in Mosi-oa-Tunya especially was delightful. Whether watching the caldera through dried LeonOtis in Ngorungoru or spying the Euphorbia candelabra far away or the sausage tree (Kigelia), Adansonia (my favorite) , Coffee Bauhinia , Mopane , Rain tree, monkey-bread (piliostigma) Mungongo nut which our guide picked up delightedly from the elephant dung and cracked one for me to eat (delicious!!) or the Impala midden from which he picked out the perfectly sized poop to demonstrate them and talked of the poop spitting competitions they had when boys. It was just delightful.
For biologists it is a dream come true. If you can... you MUST.

What a beautiful adventure, we had such awesome time. Animals were beautiful it was so nice to see them in their natural environment. We followed 5 male cheetahs hunting for... read more zebra and saw the kill. It was heart breaking but also realization that circle of life is real and necessary. Was able to see all big five: elephants, Buffalo, lions, leopards and rhinos. We saw migration at its best will never forget this trip.
